Make your own Volcano. Remember back in January we studied mountains and their formation? Well one of the ways mountains were formed is when thousands of years ago Active Volcano's erupted and lava went everywhere. The Lava eventually cooled and another layer of rock formed on top of the existing layer. Now we are going to make our own Volcano at home. Follow the below instructions. Remember to take plenty pictures and email them to me for the class blog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b_gltKtERY

One of the boys in the class done an amazing book review of The Hobbit. I have to say its excellent. Very informative and gives a great overview of the book. Well done!
The Hobbit Book Report In this book a hobbit named Bilbo (the thief) sets off on an adventure accompanied by dwarves and a wizard to reclaim the treasure that Smaug the dragon stole from the dwarves. The first challenge they face are three hungry trolls, luckily the sun came out and the trolls turned to stone. The next challenge was climbing through The Misty Mountains where they came across the House of Elrond. When they left the house of Elrond the company were all refreshed and carried on through the Misty Mountains. Then they went into a sheltering cave, little did they know that there was a secret tunnel leading to a goblin lair, a few days later they escaped. While they were trapped Bilbo found the ring of power, when light was on the ring it made the holder invisible. After that they got out of the mountains, they came to a forest where they were attacked by evil wolves. They had to climb some trees to escape then some goblins set the trees on fire. Luckily the king of the eagles saved them. After that the king of eagles brought them to a skin changer (this kind of skin changer means his skin changes to an animal), he leant them all ponies and gave them some honey cakes and water skins, they were told to send the ponies back when they reached Mirkwood. They reached Mirkwood quite fast and when they did Gandalf the wizard left them. The first challenge they face in Mirkwood was some giant black spiders, luckily using the ring Bilbo defeated the spiders. Then the dwarves were taken captive by wood elves Bilbo was not captured because of the ring’s magic. In about ten days time they escaped and went to a water village which sent them through a river that led to Lake Town. The people at Lake Town brought the company to the king. The king gave them food and ponies and after an hours journey the lonely mountain (where Smaug lived) was in sight. The crew reached the lonely mountain in a few hours and found a secret passage into the mountain. They stayed at the top of the tunnel so Smaug would not know they were there. Bilbo stole a few pieces of treasure, soon Smaug attacked Lake Town and someone called the Bard killed Smaug. The next thing that happened was the battle of the five armies the fight was huge like a small war in the end the good guys won then Gandalf, who had returned for the battle, and Bilbo headed home to Hobbiton with their share of the dwarfs’ treasure………. I enjoyed this book because it has lots of action and adventure. My favourite part of the Hobbit was when they were captured by the goblins…I would recommend reading this book to anyone who loves exciting stories. THE END.
